Collection: Oil Pastel Landscapes

Oil Pastels are actually oil paint, in solid chalk form. In some ways, oil pastels are applied like paint, using the same way of seeing, knocking in colour areas, and thinking about the edges and the surface. However, because it is oil paint in a solid form, not a liquid, drying time is not an issue. Layering, under-painting, viscosity and pigment build-up is similar to oil paint, but because there is no drying involved, oil pastels need to be framed behind glass. However as Limited-Edition canvas prints, frames are not necessary, and the canvas can be stretched on a wooden stretcher frames.
